Daycation to Nevis

Nevis is the sister island of Saint Kitts. Prior to last month, I had only been there once, and it was in May 2010. We were on a catamaran trip from Saint Kitts during Matthew's Orientation Week, and we ended up on some random Nevisian beach for about a half hour before having to head back. Needless to say, we weren't on Nevis for very long, and I have been anxious for an excuse to go back and do a bit of exploring. Soooo, when Emily and Taylor invited us to go with them on the Sunday during mid-semester break, of course we said yes!

We began the day driving out to the peninsula, to Majors Bay. There, we waited for the Sea Bridge to ferry us over to Nevis. Once we arrived, we began our island tour, stopping at random places to do some sight-seeing and exploring.

loved Nevis! While I certainly love SK and its beautiful views, the population is larger, (as is the island), and the poverty is much more apparent. Nevis is very clean, quiet, and the beaches seemed to be completely different than the beaches here in Saint Kitts...which is funny because there's only a two mile stretch separating them! Oh, and not to mention that the luxurious Four Seasons Caribbean Resort is located on Nevis. Celebrities stay there, you know. Like Oprah, for example!

Anyway---our daycation to Saint Kitts' sister island was glorious. Cannot wait to go back. :)

{P.S. Some of the photos aren't in order...I blame blogger.}

Hanging out at Majors Bay to catch the Sea Bridge.

Looks like a great day for exploring. Notice Nevis in the background.

The Yaws.

The Sea Bridge

After the Sea Bridge unloaded its passengers and vehicles, it was time for us to board.

Once we arrived in Nevis, we headed straight Funky Monkey Tours, where we rented this little guy for an island tour.

But before we hit the road, we needed to eat some lunch first. We found a restaurant here at the Nelson Spring Beach Villas & Spa.

Time for lunch at the Yachtsman Grill.

Pretty beach view from the back of the restaurant.

Hello, Saint Kitts!

The back of the beach villas/restaurant.

I looooooved these little fish accent pillows. Reminded me of my days when I worked for Pier 1 Imports

This was our first stop on our island tour: The Cottle Church.

Another beach view at the Nisbet Plantation.

View of the plantation villas.

The boys decided to take us off-roading, and we found this historic lime kiln by the sea.

I thought these trees/bushes were pretty interesting.

Large tree at the Golden Rock Inn.

Look at those tree roots!

The entrance to the restaurant at Golden Rock Inn.

I loved this place; it was so very full of lush, tropical plants.

Goats rushing by...this is...totally normal.

Cows on the Four Seasons' golf course---this is normal too!

The oldest graves date back to 1679.

And we're back at the beach. :)

Sunset...guess it's time to head back to Saint Kitts.

Successful Crasian Day!
