Finals Week is HERE

It's an extra-lonely week for the Desperate Housewives because our significant others are voluntarily locked away in their rooms, at the library, or in quiet rooms studying and taking exams. But don't worry too much about us—we're spending quality time at the beach or at the pool. Some of us have even felt the urge to hit the gym.

Matthew has been able to manage his time wisely. He's getting plenty of studying in, while still managing to get to bed early. He's also been making an effort to see me and the doggies, which is rare for any student during finals week. In addition, he made a chocolate mousse pie, did the dishes today, and de-cluttered our house. As I'm typing this, I don't really know how he's managed to balance everything, because I spent most of my day blogging about my friend Kristen who is soon leaving, and then I went to the beach for a couple of hours. I managed to make us dinner, but that's about it. Terrible, isn't it?

Enjoy the photos of the pie he made...

Yummy, right? Well, anyway, back to Rossie stuff.

Matthew's classes for second semester were:

Parasitology I
Physiology II
Anatomy II
Immunology I

His break will begin on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and I think he is more than ready for a week-long vacation from school. I say one week only because he will be an Orientation Leader the second week of break. He's going to be helping a new group of soon-to-be-Ross-students get acclimated to the island and prepared for class.

Meet Keys-to-the-City-Kristen

And I'm back with the second installment of my Real Housewives of St. Kitts Reality Show Series.

Stats---
Name: Kristen
Gender: Female
Birthday: 02.03.82
Relationship Status: Married
Anniversary: 01.15.05
Kid: Yes---Brody, born 04.25.09
Arrival on Island: January 2010
Best Known For: Getting the party started, keeping the party going, and livin' it UP.

Life Before St. Kitts: Kristen is from the great city of St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to moving to this tiny little tropical island, she spent most of her time working two jobs to save for the upcoming trek to St. Kitts...oh---and having a baby. Yes people, that's right. When Kristen moved down here, Brody was a mere 8 months old. Talk about a full plate!

Fun Facts: While on St. Kitts, she has lead a very interesting and full life. She has managed to live in three different residences, the last being Fairway Condos, more commonly known as The Crackhouses. Kristen has also improved the lives of many of the housewives by rallying up the troops and getting them out of the house to enjoy life on the island. She has cleverly avoided Kittitian jail time, and has most recently been working on her girly ways, as well as exploring her crafting skills. When I asked the other Desperate Housewives to describe Kristen, these were the words they used:

Alive.
Fun.
Honest.
Blunt.
Hottie.
Straightforward.
Partier.
Mother & Wife.
Persuasive.
Dance Central STAR.
Karaoke Queen.
Skinny (For tips on Kristen's island diet, think: island starvation...AKA no fast food here.)
Speed Crafter.
Fun-loving.
Energetic.
Spontaneous.

Life After St. Kitts: Sadly, Kristen's time on St. Kitts is about to expire. Her husband, Shawn, who currently attends UMHS, is about to complete his current round of schooling. Thus, the next step is to attend a new school in the US. However, she will be given her own spin-off show titled, "Kristen Takes Over Portland, Maine." The show will primarily follow Kristen and her new life in the US, and it's going to be one hell of a ride.

Why will Kristen be popular with the viewers? As you can see, she's the life of the party---and a very good person to know. After all, she has been deemed to have the "keys to the city." If there are shenanigans occurring, you know she's involved. Not to mention she's a blonde bombshell and has the hottest dance moves you'll ever see.

Want to keep in touch with this former Real Housewife of St. Kitts? Kristen welcomes her fans to visit, follow, and leave comments on her blog, but don't plan on hearing back. She is, after all, too busy living life to spend hours loading photos onto Blogger...but you know you'll try to talk to her anyway. http://mynameiszoom.blogspot.com/

Farewell, Kristen. You will be missed!

Shout Out to my Spirit Animal: The Sea Otter

My dear friend, Abby, has been on a mission to spot a sea turtle since being in St. Kitts. I happen to see sea turtles all the time, so when together, we would often discuss what her "strategies" should be for seeing one in the wild. Sea turtles are magnificent creatures, and they happen to be Abby's spirit animal.

Recently, Abby finally caught sight of one. She and her husband, Jacob, saw it on Sunday. Check out the photo below; I think this particular sea turtle is a Green. (Please let me know if I'm mistaken.) Congratulations, Abby!

Abby's mention of a spirit animal was intriguing. Being typical me, I decided I needed one too. It wasn't difficult to discover mine. Images of sea otters filled my head immediately upon imagining what my spirit animal would be. Matthew and I have entertained ideas about settling in the Pacific Northwest someday. Perhaps I'll find an opportunity in my near future to integrate sea otters into my life. You just never know.

Here are two of my favorite YouTube clips featuring sea otters.

Fishing in the Dark

Last Saturday I accompanied Matthew and Taylor out to the beach to do a little fishing. They had gone out the night before with our friend Ryan, and had gotten a few hits, so they wanted to try again. Thus, we headed over to the Atlantic side to begin our little adventure.

Unfortunately, the only thing we caught was a Blue Crab. Perhaps we should have played a little Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to increase our odds. Sounds fitting for Mateo and Taylor's bromance. Bahahahhahahaaaaaaa.

I had never seen this particular crustacean before, so I thought it was pretty cool. Click here to see what the world wide web has to say about the Blue Crab.

Back to "fishing in the dark." We've decided that perhaps we went out a little too late. The fishing adventure began around 9:30 p.m. and we didn't get home until after midnight. We are going to try our luck another time, but earlier in the evening—maybe 7ish.

Meet Rasta Di

Here is the first installment of my Real Housewives of St. Kitts Reality Show series. Enjoy.

Stats:
Name: Diana
Island Nickname: Rasta Di
Gender: Female
Birthday: 09.12.87
Relationship Status: Married
Anniversary: 08.14.10
Arrival on Island: August 2010
Favorite Color: Pink (obviously)
Spirit Animal: Leopard

Life Before St. Kitts: Miss Diana is from Ajax, Ontario, Canada---located just outside of Toronto. She has one younger sister and worked as a dental hygienist before she and hubby, Andee, made the big move to the Caribbean. After they were married in August, they flew to St. Kitts so Andee could start classes at UMHS---but not before they were able to take some time off first, and honeymoon on the island.

Fun Facts: Rasta Di is rarely seen without something leopard print and is a performance arts star. Don't believe me? See for yourself---you can find her at Bobsy's on Wednesday evenings singing karaoke or singing weekly with her worship team. She can also be spotted at Bamboo Lounge on Fridays dancing her little legs off. Diana loves her family, Canada, blogging, skype, cats, Jesus, and living in St. Kitts. Interestingly enough, she is scared of kids (can't blame her) and dogs (except for mine of course), and has recently admitted that she would kill someone for a little taste of the Golden Arches, aka: McDonalds.

Why will Rasta Di be popular with the viewers? She's the token sweetheart of the group. Girly, friendly, outgoing, seemingly innocent---and don't forget about those sunkissed tresses---fans will surely be taken with her. In addition, her sense of direction (or lack thereof) will provide a dramatic story line for the show. Who doesn't love watching someone get lost in a foreign country?
